TERRE DU SUD VIN DE FRANCE 2012 G800/J2,400/B 4,800 France-Southern Rhône: Viognier 50%, Sauvignon Blanc 50% A fruity, want to drink more, wine, this has rich aromas of baked apple and peach, some grapefruit and honey, and anis with a touch of thyme and rosemary. The palate is rich, soft and the fruit flavour is very persistent. In 2012, the two varieties perfectly blend as one.
LOXAREL PENEDES AMALTEA TINTO 2012 G800/J2,400/B4,800 Spain-Catalonia: Organic. Discovered in fashionable Barcelona Tapas bar, Quimet y Quimet. Organic. Simply made and aged in stainless steel. A blend of Cabernet and Merlot, yet this organic and biodynamically farmed wine doesn’t really taste like either.
TAKEN ‘COMPLICATED’ CENTRAL COAST RED 2012 G1,100/J3,600/B7,200 California-Central Coast: 53% Grenache, 42% Syrah, 5% Carignane. It’s not complicated to understand the affinity that Grenache has with Syrah. They’ve been blended together for centuries in Southern France and Spain..Aromas of strawberries, cherries, and ripe plum are seductive as are the earthier notes of black tea and chocolate. The palate is a juicy melange of raspberry, cherry, ripe figs and plums.
